Dental Hygiene Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies.
- Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Review documentation, update medical records, and assist with medical coding to ensure precise billing processes.
Qualifications
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental is highly preferred.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and documentation review processes.
